Over the past years, the main problems with Auto-winding (Self-winding) of clocks has been the availability of space to fit the equipment, as well as being able to accomplish it without having to modify the clock movement itself. We have overcome this problem through the development of an epicyclic gearbox based system. This not only produces a much smaller unit when compared with endless chain systems, but has the ability to be mounted in out-of-the-way places, and in keeping with the clock and its surroundings.
Over 50 units have been installed over the past 3 years, and have proved to be exceptionally reliable and trouble free and yet leave the original movement un-modified. We normally fit the units oursleves, but we do supply other organisations involved in large clock restoration and conservation. Please contact our Dacre Workshops for further details. |
